You know the story. I think it was a little over two years ago. I was ready to lock the doors and throw the keys in the night drop and walk away. You even gave me a few months of one on one coaching free just to help me through. As you’ll probably remember I was pretty low. Slowly you got me back into Tuesday classes. But if I remember correctly we did a financial health assessment first. That’s when I really started to wake up. After that I talked some things over with my service manager. We found that the business was running us. That day we started the turn around.

We had talked and I confided in you P&L’s and budgeting were Greek to me. You told me Tuesday webinar budgeting for profit. I started attending. Now not only can I do a budget, because of the tools and reports I got from the class I watch the numbers daily. Between budgeting and turning into a “yes” company (join ASL and learn what that really means). Cartec started showing a profit. I was able to pay off past debt. Cartec now has money in the bank to fall back on. Due to your coaching it’s actually enjoyable to own my business.

I haven’t even mentioned the twenty group meetings. What can I say shop owners and managers from around the country getting together sharing ideas, makes for one intense and helpful weekend. The ideas and the help from fellow members, there’s no way to put a price on it. The funny thing is it’s because of the webinar’s and your coaching I can afford to attend or should I say I can’t afford not to attend.
Cartec is still a work in progress. But thanks to Gary Gunn and Automotive Service Leaders Last year (2009) we had a 29% increase over 2008. This year in the first quarter we’re up 19.5% and we have seen 94 more cars. And the great thing, there not empty numbers were making a profit. If Gary Gunn can turn around a little five bay shop in Oklahoma If you listen to him and use the tools from the website, Gary Gunn and the board of directors can turn your business around.

“All training is profitable.” After 36 years of being an independent auto repair center I still look forward to training with Gary Gunn and his staff. After closing out my '07 year, it became apparent that I was in a "no-win" situation with my shop. For three years I've had to dump large sums of cash into it just to keep it open to lose more money.

Then your ad popped up one morning and since I wasn't doing anything useful but crying in my beer...uh...coffee... I read it, explored it, and signed up.

Now, I've had all the "Big Three" experts in here, spent over $20,000 in schooling in California at a "Guru's" place with the same disappointing results as previously mentioned.

As I attended every TAT Webinar,I made notes and set up my emergency battle plan. This while watching Jan. '08 ease its way into the toilet.

Thursday, January 31, I stopped operations and called a meeting with my sons and dropped the hammer. I showed them what other similar shops were doing, and how pitiful we were performing financially. I read them my notes taken from conversations with you, showed them the composite from the Life Line, and gave them their buy-in forms to fill out along with a copy of mine. When they filled them out a gave them a list of things we do right and one of those we do wrong. Then another list of things we weren't doing at all. The challenge was for them to brainstorm them ALL in their particular area of responsibility. Their response was incredible.

Today I came in early, 6:00 A.M. to review the week's closeout for the first week since that meeting. My average weekly sales in '07 was $11,673.00...(break even @50% GP is $13,000.00). Today it is $26,422.00 for the week with $11,176.00 GP...a new record with one less technician!!!

I know there are 51 more weeks to go, but I have faith that they will improve as I continue with you and ASL. A warm and deep "THANK YOU" is in order to you and your staff! "Turn Around Tour" indeed...

Things are going great!!!!! November started on the slow side, but we have picked up. Yesterday, we had a $14,500 day!!!! We are tracking $120,000 for November! Thanks for being the Best Coach!

Sixty days ago I knew I had poor accounting, but since I have learned how it's done. Thanks to Gary and Dan, I can now see if I'm on track every day.
